Producing

West African Cultural Celebration: Afrika Nyaga Drum & Dance Festival.

Successfully produced and managed all facets of a performance event which showcased the music and dance of Africa. Arranged all the artists, the space, ticket sales, advertisement, promotion and the performance itself. Over the course of the last three years, over 800 people have attended and 50 musicians, dancers and performers have been involved. In our second and third years we were supported by grants from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. In 2011 we featured Malian performer Nampé Sadio.

Workshops

Afrika Nyaga Drum and Dance Tour of Mali Facilitated a drum and dance tour of Bamako, Mali, for American students. Arranged all aspects of the trip from transportation to housing, classes, cultural activities and workshops. In 2009 we had three students attend. This year, 8 traveled to Mali.
